The Art of Now

A few weeks ago, she learned that her friend's father had become ill with severe heart disease- a condition that will most likely not allow him to live longer than six months. He was too young and seemed so healthy to be sick with this kind of disease.

Realizing her time with him is limited makes every second important and complicated. She tried really hard to make everything perfect for him and taking care of him like why he's not eating, why he's still sleeping, why he's not sleeping.

Soon she realized she's not living in the present but in the future worrying what will happen.

In conclusion, what I learned from this story is that life is too unpredictable to not enjoy the moment.

We can only understand what living in the present means by not living in it. There's constant chaos in our mind when we become a victim of time. Everything becomes overwhelming. There are so many thoughts and regrets in our mind like what could have been, what might be, only if... sooner or later these kinds of thoughts start haunting in present.

On the other hand, it's natural to have these kinds of thoughts. Identifying impending dangers through associations with things that have happened in the past is important for self-preservation.

But, when we start dictating our lives with these thoughts it makes our present and potential future toxic. Peace in present becomes rare.

For example-
We get distracted by the thought of Monday morning so, we spend the whole weekend miserably.
We are stressed about giving our best in assignments, group projects that we forget to enjoy it.

We live in a fast-paced, highly competitive society. And for this reason, it's important to understand if we won't live in the present we will automatically start taking steps in a backward direction without even realizing it.

So, wherever you are, commit to being there, completely, life will take care of the rest.
